What to Expect at a Class
Meditation can benefit anyone. Some people attend classes because they’re looking for relaxation and peace of mind. Others are facing profound life challenges, such as problems with relationships, work, money or health. We offer a welcoming and supportive spiritual community. Many people want to learn about Buddhism, and go beyond popular presentations. We can help you practice Buddha’s teachings in daily life. However, you don’t need to become a Buddhist to attend our classes. We welcome everyone!
A Typical Class
A typical class consists of an introductory guided meditation, teaching, discussion, and a final meditation. Most classes last an hour to an hour and a half. Meditators sit in comfortable chairs to support a proper meditation posture.
We strive to create a physical environment that is quiet and peaceful, where people can enjoy a break from ordinary problems and concerns. There is no physical exercise, yoga, or stretching involved.
Finding the Right class
Our General Program classes are designed for drop-in students. No reservations or commitments are required. While each series explores a particular theme in depth, individual classes are self-contained. You can attend a whole series or just one class. Over time you will gain a comprehensive instruction in meditation and Buddhism applied to everyday life.
If you decide you would like a more systematic approach to studying meditation, we also offer study programs, including the Foundation Program.

Payment
The General Program (GP) class fee is $15. Membership is also available.
We also offer some classes through Adult Schools and other sponsoring organizations. Registration and fees are handled through these organizations.
