Meaningful Vacations
Throughout the year there are many Kadampa Buddhist festivals and Dharma Celebrations that take place. These provide a precious opportunity to study and practice the special presentation of modern Buddhism taught by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the Founder of the New Kadampa Tradition.
International Festivals
The New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU) organizes three International Festivals every year – the Spring and Summer Festivals held at Manjushri KMC, and the Fall Festival held at different locations around the world.
Each festival is a special course on Buddhism and meditation that explains how to apply Buddha’s teachings (Dharma) to modern living.
Taught by the Spiritual Director and Deputy Spiritual Director of NKT assisted by other senior Teachers of the tradition. These festivals are the highlights within the calendar of the Kadampa tradition.
The Festivals include teachings and empowerments from the principal Teacher, reviews and meditations led by senior NKT Teachers, chanted meditations and offering ceremonies, and retreats to consolidate and deepen your understanding and experience.
Please visit New Kadampa Tradition website for information on upcoming festivals.
US Festivals
On the local circuit, every spring, the World Peace Temple in Glen Spey New York hosts the US Festival, and the North East Dharma Celebration in September/October.
The events vary in length from two days to two weeks, but whatever their duration they all offer a vacation with a difference – a chance to break free from the hectic routines of daily life and focus on the things that really matter.
You will come away not only refreshed and relaxed but also spiritually re-energized.
The Festivals are open to everyone and may be attended in their entirety or for just one or more days.
If you've never been before, consider joining us. We would love to see you there!
