A Journey to Peace
For 20 years, the Dharmachakra Kadampa Buddhist Center (DKBC) has been a beacon of inner peace in New Jersey, guiding individuals through meditation and the teachings of Buddha. Before the pandemic, we offered around 400 classes annually at our main center, various branches, adult schools, libraries, and through special events. During the pandemic, we adapted by providing online classes, continuing to serve our community.

However, shortly after reopening, our center was devastated by flooding from Hurricane Ida in 2021. Despite this setback, we persevered, holding classes at Vauxhall Community Center and St. Stephens Church in Millburn, NJ.

After three years of dedicated and joyful efforts from our community, we were thrilled to recently announce the reopening of our center! We have transformed it into a beautiful, modern space in downtown Millburn, where we can continue our meditation practices together. The energy in our new home is vibrant, with new students joining, a bookstore plus social area that encourages reading, chatting, and relaxing. Our classes once again thrive thanks to the commitment of our volunteers—teachers, assistants, graphic designers, administrators, program coordinators, and many more.

Funding Our Vision
We are incredibly grateful for the generous support we received to rebuild after Hurricane Ida. Having delivered on that promise, we now return to the daily activities of running and growing a Meditation center. While we are funded through class fees, memberships, and donations, DKBC faces a significant challenge this year as our revenues have fallen and remain significantly below our pre-pandemic levels. Our annual fundraiser is traditionally the time when our center turns the tide financially. This year is the first fundraiser in 3 years and once again we need your help to achieve our fundraising goal of $20,000 by December 31.

With your continued support, we remain devoted to providing meditation classes and teachings that equip us to "bring peace" to ourselves and, ultimately, to the world.
