Without inner peace, outer peace is impossible

At Dharmachakra Kadampa Buddhist Center we offer instruction in meditation and Buddhist spiritual practice.

Everyone is welcome - whether you’re brand new to meditation and seeking relaxation techniques, or if you’ve been practicing meditation for a long time and are now seeking a spiritual path.

Happiness and suffering are states of mind, and so their main causes are not to be found outside the mind. If we want to be truly happy and free from suffering, we must learn how to control our mind.

In the fast-paced world of work and personal life, our attention is quickly scattered, and our mind is cluttered with endless distractions. When our mind is unable to focus, we are not at peace. Learn how to strengthen mindfulness and concentration through systematic meditation training. As we gradually develop the ability to concentrate, we feel more mentally stable and at peace. In time, our mind will do what we want it to, like a well-trained horse obeying its rider. Developing concentration is particularly important for our mental health and our spiritual practice. When our mind is free from the turbulence of distracting thoughts, it naturally becomes calm and smooth. No classes 4/1 and 4/8.

Living Mindfully

3 Tuesdays in April 7:00-8:30pm
St Stephen's Church, 119 Main Street, Millburn

We all want to be happy all the time, yet we usually disturb our happiness by developing anger, worry, and other negative states of mind. This is because we don’t know where authentic happiness comes from. In this series, we will learn the 21 meditations Buddha taught as a path to train our minds. Each class presents a new meditation that can transform how we think about our lives and help us to solve our problems. We all want to be happy; now, we can put ancient wisdom into practice and learn how. No classes 4/2 and 4/9.
